Societa Christoforo Colombo Lodge Scholarship

Effective the 2018 – 2019 school year, and on an annual basis, the Societa Christoforo Colombo
Lodge will award five (5) scholarships of $1000. each to public and private school graduates in
the Kamloops Thompson School District region, in recognition of excellence in Academics,
Citizenship, Athletics, Visual and Performing Arts and Top All-Around Performance.
Application Criteria:
To apply for these scholarships, graduating students must meet the following criteria:
1. Must be of Italian origin/ancestry or descent on father’s or mother’s side or both. This
information must be provided in the application package with the necessary evidence
and explanation.
2. Complete a minimum 300 word essay outlining their achievements and
accomplishments (academics, athletics, visual and performing arts and/or in areas of
school and community service and citizenship).
3. Must provide an up-to-date transcript of marks including Semester 2 mid-term marks.
4. Must provide a minimum of two letters of reference: at least one from the school (i.e.
teacher, administrator, counsellor or coach) and at least one as a character reference
from a community member.

Scholarship Payments:
Scholarship payments will be awarded to scholarship recipients on proof of acceptance and
registration at an accredited post secondary institution of learning. Payments will be made
through the BC Interior Community Foundation, the holder of the Colombo Lodge Endowment
Fund.

Application Process:
Students must submit their application package (application information page, page 2 of this
form, evidence of Italian heritage, essay, school marks (transcript) and letters of reference) by
May 15 of the current school year to the President of the Colombo Lodge:
