The Story Synopsis
It's 1952 in the village of Sodbury End in South Gloucestershire, where Jennifer Jardine has long kept the village running efficiently... and firmly. But everything changes when Mrs. Jardine is blown sky-high in her allotment shed while potting a monkey puzzle tree.
When Detective Inspector Grace Murray arrives to investigate, the villagers insist Mrs. Jardine was a lovely person and can't imagine who would want her dead. However, as the Inspector digs deeper, a very different story begins to emerge. It seems many villagers had grown tired of Mrs. Jardine's relentless scrutiny of their lives and local affairs.
What dark secrets are buried in Sodbury End? And more importantly... who tossed a WWII grenade into Mrs. Jardine's shed while she was inside?
